Post Script - Band (BIO)

SHORT BIO
Post Script distills optimistic melancholia by exploring their entwined histories. The striking effervescence of Steph Blais in harmonic unity with Paul Cournoyer's rich baritone creates a conduit for the voices of their franco-albertan roots to resound with the reflection of modern humanity. The guitar pendulum swings from Nashville pulse to crystalline delicacy, weaving the soothing tone of Paul's stand up bass with enigmatic familiarity. Like a lustrous new dress stitched from vintage cloth Post Script is a gasp of nostalgia in a breath of fresh air.
LONGER BIO
Post Script has been evolving since 2013 when fate contrived to join their forces. Steph Blais and Paul Cournoyer found a cultural commonality and a fierce passion for merging the past with a future they would create together. The symbiosis of their first exchange brought them a beautiful three song EP. With this solid foundation Post Script delved more deeply into their shared franco-albertan heritage and intrepidly spread their wings into uncharted influences to reflect the nuance, soul and texture of a burgeoning sound and a collective voice. For “If Not For You” they enlisted Brayden Treble to help them realize these dynamics with his imaginative and eclectic guitar conspiring with the ethereal highs and thundering depths already present in Steph and Paul's collaboration. Together they unearthed artistic parallels and connections, which began to forge the patterns of their distinct sound. Steph Blais' captivating voice drifts above the rumbling firmament tethered only to the steady company of Paul's stand up bass as he anchors his baritone deep in the soil of their history. As a sincere homage to memories of a simpler time, they began experimenting with a vivid palette from Nashville twang, to french folk ambiance. Their earnest lyrics speak from a limbo between the shadows of yesterday and the hopeful uncertainties of tomorrow.
“If Not For You” (October 2015) “Embodies the traditional Canadian oscillation between urban living and rural retreat, it also captures the spirit of the nation’s linguistic divide.” (Grayowl Point, Oct.20/2015). This album sought to examine the exchange within this divide and celebrate the fertile opportunity to develop channels in the intersections between cultures. Paying tribute to the honest yearning of the people whose stories define them, Post Script endeavored to give voice to the vibrant experience passed down to them with a sympathetic and poetic collage of songs.
As “one of Edmonton's hidden gem bands”(CBC.ca) Post Script is an endearing discovery constantly emerging to new audiences. Winners of Alternative Recording of the Year at the 2016 Edmonton Music Awards and shortlisted for the Edmonton Music Prize, Post Script has proven that vintage persuasion can also be innovative. Trusting the art first and foremost has led them to stages from Canmore (Folk Music Festival) to the Winter Lights Festival in Reykjavik, Iceland and many intimate and vaulted venues in between. Their collaboration, described as “maybe the most gorgeous pieces of melancholia I have heard this year.”(outlineonline.co.uk) compels them forward with stalwart battered hearts into the beckoning unknown.
The future brings the release of their new single “Don't Let Go” (October 5th) with further conjuring impending in the coming Spring. Don't miss what's in store, Post Script has only begun finding the way back home.
